Below
you will find a sample grocery list I made
up in the computer for a specific date.
I have put it in a word processing program
(MS Word), so when it is time to prepare a
new one, I can open one of these older ones,
immediately save it with the new date, so it
saves a new copy without altering the old
one, and then I edit it with new food items
under the headings that stay in place.
These headings suit the layout of the store
where Jim does most of our grocery shopping.
And, even if he should shop somewhere else,
having it all grouped under headings, no
matter what order the store is in, it is
simpler to find items since he can go to the
bakery section on the list whenever he finds
himself in that section of the store, and do
the shopping for that section at that time.
I began making menu lists and grocery lists
such as this many years ago when I had to
plan for summer trips into the back country
where we tent-camped in remote areas.
Now that we live such a long distance from
all shopping, this is a big time saver, and
helps keep me from forgetting things I'll
regret later. When I create the menus
I try to add some of the ingredients needed
so I'll be sure to add those individual
items to those I need to check on my supply
of, for preparation of this grocery list.
While your requirements are going to be
different, and perhaps your layout, as well
as the reasons why this may benefit you,
with all the demands and rushed schedules
that most of us deal with at all times, will
make this organization of your shopping and
preparation easier and more fulfilling for
you. It makes cooking more enjoyable
when you know you have everything you need
on hand, and when you know you can quickly
prepare a variety of nutritious meals for
you and/or your family.
